The only veterinary medical professional program in the US located on the campus of a historically black college or university, The Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) is home to its own in-house lab and Vet Med Diagnostic Services. Located in Williams-Bowie Hall, their immunology/virology lab is a USDA approved laboratory for Equine Infectious Anemia Coggins testing in horses using the AGID test, as well as the activities of pathogens using commercially available ELISA kits. The also test for Streptococcus equi.

Only samples with properly completed request form(s) and the signature of the practitioner handling that specific case. Chilled specimens should be submitted to the Microbiology Laboratory in-person or through the mail. Many tests are conducted within 24 hours. However, virology tests are only processed on Mondays. It’s best to contact the lab before submitting your samples.

Their equine care services include a full spectrum of veterinary care including wellness exams, vaccinations, deworming and dentistry, reproductive services and daily management of medical conditions. Their staff is fully committed to the well-being of the horses in their care. The Tuskegee University Vet Med Diagnostic Services lab is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 12pm and 1pm to 4:30 pm.
