Part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, The University of Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is accredited for all species by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. It is also licensed to perform Coggins testing for Equine Infectious Anemia. If it helps, the AzVDL also refers to their EIA (Elisa) test as Test# S126. Here are the official instructions and PDF form and instructions for submitting a sample to this lab. As with any Coggins testing lab, you will also need to submit APHIS VS Form 10-11.
EIA (Elisa) tests are available the same day if an acceptable sample is delivered by noon. However, this expedited STAT testing costs $30 per animal and requires an additional submission form. An acceptable same is either ≥1 ml of serum or ≥3 ml blood per test, though serum is preferred. Note: The submission of specimens through practicing veterinarians is encouraged, but specimens are also accepted from owners.
This lab also offers a confirmatory test that’s sent only to NVSL and is conducted through a referral laboratory. They also offer a separate test for Equine Rhinopneumonitis (SN).
