The University of Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL) maintains a high standard of veterinary diagnostic services including client confidentiality. CVMDL is the only laboratory in New England that is fully accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. The CVMDL works closely with Connecticut’s Department of Agriculture to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices.
In addition to both AGID and ELISA Coggins testing, this laboratory performs a wide range of equine testing such as equine herpes, equine anaplasma, and many others. It conducts most every state-mandated veterinary testing protocol including Brucellosis, Salmonella Pullorum, Mycoplasma, Mastitis, Avian Influenza, and Johne’s Disease. It also performs Salmonella, leptospirosis, Lyme disease, and Rabies testing. You can search online for all their tests and fees.
The lab provides a detailed guide that can be followed by owners and vet practitioners to reliably and efficiently submit samples. Overnight or next-day shipments are highly recommended through a few different shipping services. Specimens should be sent to the CVMDL with an ETA no later than 4pm the day before the specified test day. The CVMDL also provides its own internal courier service for necropsy and other local equine veterinary services.
GVL and VSPS electronic reporting available at no additional cost. ELISA samples must be received prior to noon on the day of submission to receive results within 4 hours. Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
