The Equine Medical Center of Ocala is the only hospital in Florida’s Marion County with board-certified specialists in surgery, reproduction, and internal medicine, as well as veterinarians and vet technicians who can provide first-rate equine care. This includes state-of-the-art imaging, around-the-clock intensive care, and after-hours emergency services. It also includes the Equine Medical Center of Ocala Laboratory, which offers a wide range of testing and diagnostic services.
The lab serves in-hospital patients, EMCO veterinarians, and referring veterinarians in Florida and around the country. You’ll need to complete the EMCO/RDVM Submission Form (not available online last time we checked), as well as the APHIS Coggins form, when submitting samples for testing. The lab technicians can answer any questions you may have about the testing process, time frame, and required forms. There is a lab technician on-call 24/7 for urgent services, but the main lab hours are usually Monday through Friday 7am-6pm and Saturday and Sunday 7am-5pm.
