Red Oak Animal Hospital is focused on the ongoing health of the horses and animals in their care. Their goal is to prevent disease and potential health issues through routine maintenance and expert veterinary care. They operate two companion animal clinics. The main Red Oak Animal Hospital is at their Bucyrus Veterinary Clinic. They also have a second location, the Freeman Animal Clinic.
In addition to in-house Coggins testing, they provide a comprehensive set of equine health services that include preventive medicine, reproductive services, lameness evaluation, dentistry, pre-purchase exam, chiropractic care, open wound care, surgical procedures, emergency ambulatory services, as well as comprehensive diagnostic services. Their in-house lab conducts routine bloodwork with same day-results. They run CBCs (Complete Blood Count), chemistry panels (to asses kidney and liver values, muscle enzymes, and electrolytes), and fibrinogen (to assess inflammation). They also work with outside laboratories when specialized testing is needed.
As an example of their cutting-edge technology and responsive service, they have portable digital radiograph equipment that allows them to deliver certain diagnostic services on your farm or other site. Most veterinary services are performed on-site at their Bucyrus Veterinary Clinic or Freeman Animal Clinic. They also offer equine wellness plans with season veterinary check-ups and preventative services for low-risk/pleasure horses and high-risk/performance horses.
Along with 24-hour emergency services, their regular office and lab hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 8am-12pm. They have three licensed vets on staff. You can find their new equine patient form here.
