What originally started exclusively as an equine ambulatory practice quickly expanded to a brick-and-mortar clinic with a fairly comprehensive list of services. Along with Coggins testing and health certificates, the Kentucky Lake Equine Hospital offers veterinary care for reproduction, chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture, dentistry, vaccinations, ultrasound, radiography, endoscopy, lameness evals, and pre-purchase exams. The hospital is committed to staying up-to-date on new procedures and treatment protocols. Dr. Abernathy-Young is the owner-veterinarian. The hospital also employs two vet assistants and an office manager.

The Kentucky Lake Equine Hospital Laboratory runs both AGID and ELISA Coggins tests. The turnaround time for the former is 24 hours. The latter test can be done in as little as 2 hours. The health certificate is honored within Kentucky for a year and outside the state for 30 days.

Serving a huge swath of western Kentucky, this hospital has made continual improvements over the last decade. They have an ICU stall for critical care, two foaling stalls, stallion training area, 9 paddock turnouts, and in-house laboratory diagnostic services. Whether you have an equine athlete or a pleasure horse, the Kentucky Lake Equine Hospital prides itself on offering comprehensive and compassionate care.
