Managed by the Nevada Department of Agriculture, the Animal Disease and Food Safety Lab is responsible for the diagnosis and elimination of various animal diseases. They collaborate with federal agencies, independent veterinarians, animal owners, and livestock producers to control and eradicate animal diseases that stand to negatively impact the economy and the public health. Their dedicated professional staff includes the official state veterinarian, licensed vet practitioners, lab supervisors, diagnosticians, and microbiologists. The Animal Disease and Food Safety Laboratory also has a sister lab in Elko, NV.

Like other state-run laboratories, there are a number of online resources available. You can find a PDF file of their laboratory submission form. You can also find a list of tests and fees for the lab, including Coggins testing for equine infectious anemia. They run their tests on Tues and Thurs with results reported the following day. STAT testing is also available with same-day results when notified by 12pm. The lab is open from 8am – 5pm.
