Managed by Oklahoma’s Department of Agriculture, the Laboratory Services Division is responsible for ensuring the quality of agricultural products, protecting the environment, diagnosing animal diseases, and guaranteeing the correctness of all weights and measures. They produce high-quality analytical data through reliable methods and measurements. Within the Laboratory Services Division, the Animal Health Section assists relevant state and federal entities with the identification, control, and eradication of animal diseases including equine infectious anemia. This Animal Health Lab Section is led by microbiologist Pete Bourns and lab technician Karen Kwok.
This APHIS-approved laboratory provides diagnostic support services including EIA Coggins testing to licensed veterinarians and animal owners. These diagnostic tests qualify as official USDA tests for interstate and international shipments. Both AGID and ELISA Coggins tests are available to vet practitioners for $10.
