The Sturgis Veterinary Hospital was started in 1952 by Dr. J.A. Chamley and his wife Annie. The current owner, In 1971, the current owner Dr. John Ismay purchased the hospital in 1971 with a vision for a high-tech veterinary center dedicated to providing exemplary medical and surgical services to equines and companion animals. Located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, today  Sturgis Veterinary Hospital & Equine Center is a regional hub for advanced veterinary care that extends into Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana, and Nebraska.

Their modern veterinary facility includes diagnostic imaging and laboratory testing. You won’t have to wait to get an accurate diagnosis, lameness evaluations, and fast treatment for an ailing horse. You can also get your Coggins testing and health certificate from their in-house lab. The Sturgis Veterinary Hospital is especially proud of its surgical suite with induction room, padded recovery rooms, intensive care units, anesthetic equipment with multi-parameter monitors and state-of-the-art equine surgery table. As a referral hospital, they see unusual diseases and ailments and have earned significant experience with more complicated conditions and ailments.
